Vertex dentures: manufacturer name versus material
Vertex dentures are often called "nylon dentures", but Vertex is really a brand name. Different materials are sold under it, so it helps to know what exactly you are being offered.
How it differs
These dentures are usually thinner and more flexible than acrylic ones, and many people find them more comfortable. The soft material grips the gums and teeth gently, so there are often no visible metal clasps.
What to ask
Ask what material your denture will be made from, how it is repaired, and whether it can be relined. The answers are not always the same for every material, so it is better to know in advance.
Who it suits
People choose Vertex when they want a less noticeable denture that feels comfortable. It doesn't suit everyone, though. It depends on the teeth you have left and your bite. Your dentist will tell you honestly whether it is right for you.
